Rest timers between sets and exercises

Every exercise carries two rest durations, and both start off. Set one and it becomes the workout's default; change it on a single exercise and only that exercise moves.

Step 1. Set the first duration

Under every exercise name runs a line with a clock on it. Until you set something it reads Rest timer with the clock crossed out: no rest is running, and none will.

Tap the line and both durations open on one ruler. Set rest is the gap between sets of this exercise. Exercise rest is the gap after it, before the next one, and it only appears when another exercise follows. Drag each one and tap Done.

  • STEP moves the ruler in 5, 15 or 30 seconds
  • Anything from 0 up to 5 minutes
  • The line reads 45s under a minute, 1:30 above

Done saves only the durations you moved. Set one and leave the other, and the line reads the number you set next to off.

Step 2. One default, then per-exercise

The first duration you set becomes the workout's default and reaches every exercise in it, including ones you add later. That is why the whole list fills in from one edit.

After that the default stops following you. Open any exercise's line, change it, and only that exercise moves: squats can rest three minutes while curls rest forty-five seconds. Apply to all in the sheet pushes what is on the ruler back out to every exercise and clears the overrides.

Step 3. Turn one off

The red chip at the end of the STEP row turns the timer off for the exercise you have open. Both durations at once, and the sheet closes on the tap.

That exercise goes back to the crossed-out clock and stops starting a rest. Every other exercise keeps what it had, and the workout's default is untouched, so anything you add later still arrives with it.

Step 4. While you train

Tick a set complete and the rest starts itself: the set rest if more sets of that exercise are left, the exercise rest if that was the last one and another exercise follows.

Finish workout morphs into the rest card while it runs. -15 and +15 change the rest you are actually taking without touching what the exercise is set to, and Skip ends it now. At zero the card turns green, holds a beat, and hands the Finish button back.

Nothing about rest is gated. Every duration on this page works on the free plan.
